A Letter from

Jolanta Kwasniewska

First Lady of Poland, 1995-2005

Dear Timothy,

It was with deep sadness that we learned of the recent death of you father, Robert Sargent Shriver Jr. Please, accept warmest condolences from me and Aleksander. We are truly sorry that in such a short time you lost both your parents. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Sargent Shriver was a man whose vision and commitment really changed not only the United States of America but the whole world. His legacy of compassion, idealism and goodness will live on forever in the works of Special Olympics, Peace Corps and many of his programs and organizations helping those who are poor and less fortunate.

We are deeply thankful for having had the opportunity to personally meet your parents several times. They were both remarkable people. The memory of each of them and of the occasions we met, especially the birthday gathering in Dublin, will stay in our hearts for ever.

We truly believe that now your father is happy to be reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife Eunice.

With our deepest sympathy,

Jolanta Kwasniewska
